HakubaSafety is a free guide for international visitors who want to ski and snowboard safely in Japan. To help pay for the site, some of our pages contain affiliate links. This page explains what that means for you.
What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link is a link to another company's website. It tells that company that you came from HakubaSafety. If you buy something or sign up through one of these links, HakubaSafety may earn a commission.
The company may use cookies or similar technology to record that you came from our site.
Does it cost you more?
No. You pay the same price whether you use our link or go to the provider directly. The provider pays the commission, not you.
How we label advertising
Affiliate links are a form of advertising. We want you to always know when a page contains advertising.
- Every article that contains affiliate links shows a short notice that starts with Advertising:.
- The notice appears near the top of the article, before the first affiliate link.
- If an article starts with emergency steps, we show those steps first. The notice comes right after them.
- The notice links back to this page.
- We never make an advertisement look like a safety warning.
Many of our articles contain no affiliate links at all.
Safety advice comes first
- Affiliate relationships never change our safety advice, including how we explain rescue, medical care, resort rules, or emergency steps.
- They never decide which information we include or leave out.
- If a product has important limits or exclusions, we tell you about them.
- No product can guarantee your safety on the mountain.
When we recommend something
We only recommend a product or service when it is relevant to the topic and we believe it can genuinely help you. Where possible, we explain who it may suit, its main limits, and who may want to look at other options.
No single product is right for every traveler.
Who we work with
Our current affiliate partners are:
- SafetyWing (travel insurance)
- World Nomads (travel insurance)
Some links go through an affiliate network that records the referral.
We may also mention companies and services that we have no affiliate relationship with. We do not earn anything from those mentions.
Always check the current terms
Prices, coverage, exclusions, and eligibility can change at any time. They can also depend on your country of residence.
Before you buy, please read the current terms directly on the provider's website. For travel insurance, check that the policy covers the activities you plan, such as skiing, snowboarding, off-piste, or backcountry riding. If something is unclear, contact the provider.
